About Accenture:

Accenture is a leading global professional services company that helps the world’s leading businesses, governments and other organisations build their digital core, optimize their operations, accelerate revenue growth and enhance citizen services—creating tangible value at speed and scale. We are a talent- and innovation-led company with approximately 733,000 people serving clients in more than 120 countries. Technology is at the core of change today, and we are one of the world’s leaders in helping drive that change, with strong ecosystem relationships. We combine our strength in technology and leadership in cloud, data and AI with unmatched industry experience, functional expertise and global delivery capability.

Why create a scholarship?

Every year, Accenture hires hundreds of graduates into technology roles in our offices across the UK. We are committed to improving social mobility and supporting the levelling up agenda by continuing to invest in the North of England. In support of these aims, this year we are doubling down on our commitment and opening five times as many graduate roles in Newcastle, doubling the number of graduates we hire in Manchester, and launching new graduate positions in Leeds.

At the same time, we recognise the barriers that women face in kickstarting a career in technology. As part of our investment in the North, we want to support more women to access this male-dominated industry by creating a scholarship scheme to support two students who are interested in entering the field. We hope that this contribution will help to support with basic costs during this cost-of-living crisis, allowing our scholars to focus on achieving the best possible grade in the last six months of their course.

Joan Moore, Head of Early Talent Recruitment at Accenture, is a sponsor of this scheme and said: ‘One of the most rewarding parts of my job is helping people to step into careers that they never thought they would be able to access. We hope that this scholarship will provide two female students with a little support on their journey to unlocking a career in this exciting industry’.
