About IVC Evidensia:
As one of Europe’s leading veterinary groups, IVC Evidensia is passionate about encouraging diversity within the veterinary profession. Sadly, the proportion of vets from BAME backgrounds is still vastly underrepresented in the veterinary profession.
The Scholarship:
This scholarship was the first of its kind to be launched within the industry. Since its inception in 2021, over 40 undergraduate students have been successful recipients of the scholarship, which offers students both financial support (in the form of an annual grant of £5,000 per year, for the entire course duration) and mentorship from experienced clinicians who are members of the IVC Evidensia Ethnic Diversity Board. The aim is for the scheme to receive more applications each year as it encourages an increasing number of BAME students to apply for vet school.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Students must be about to start the first year of their course
- Students must be participating in a 5-6 year professional course, or a 4 year accelerated programme, in Veterinary Medicine (& Surgery)
- Students must not have started their course yet
- Students must describe themselves as part of a racial or ethnic minority community
- Students must come from a low-income or socio-economic background (as defined by the Social Mobility Commission)
- Students will be asked to share their Course Acceptance Letter and Student Loan Company Letter, when they apply
