About the Ocean Winds Scholarship:
In 2022 Ocean Winds (OW) launched a scholarship programme designed to support students living in northeastern Scotland who were hoping to pursue undergraduate studies in subjects applicable to the offshore wind sector. With such a wide range of roles available in the development, construction, and operations of offshore wind farms, the array of subjects that OW can support is vast. The programme was originally designed to help fund talented young people from Moray, Aberdeenshire and Highland as they began their journey to study an undergraduate course at university. This year, OW is broadening the impact that the scholarship can have, by allowing students who have already started their undergraduate studies. The award will be an annual £2,000 scholarship to students over the course of their undergraduate degree, up to a maximum of £8,000 over 4 years, paid each year.

About Ocean Winds
Ocean Winds is a global leader in the development, financing, construction, operation and ownership of offshore wind farms. Ocean Winds (OW) is the result of a 50-50 joint venture by EDP Renewables (EDPR) and ENGIE. In the UK, OW developed and operates the 950 MW Moray East project, one of Scotland’s largest operational offshore wind farms. OW is constructing the adjacent Moray West offshore wind farm of similar size. OW secured the 2 GW ‘Caledonia’ project through a recent seabed leasing process, also in the Moray Firth, and seabed rights for the 2.3 GW Arven project which will be a floating offshore wind farm east of Shetland.
The aim of the fund is to support students from the part of Scotland where the OW UK operational wind farms are located, to study at any UK university. Additionally, the aim is to support the talent pipeline into the rapidly expanding offshore wind sector by supporting study in relevant, though broad, range of subjects. Graduates from this programme will have preferential but not guaranteed access to relevant roles within OW, including the Ocean Winds Intern and Graduate programmes.
